Ideas On How To Give Yourself Some Brain Snuggles
Snuggly blanket or weighted blanket
Sometimes it’s good to cuddle up with some blankets or pillows, or creating a comforting space. Weighted blankets have especially been known to be therapeutic.
Snuggly socks
If you ever ever been in a mental hospital, you probably were given hospital socks. Throughout my stay at the mental hospital I found these socks to be comforting. Ever since then I have loved them. I have a lot that I bought from Amazon or in stores.
Stuffed animals and Plushies
It might sound silly for an adult at first. But sometimes you just need something to cuddle with when you dont have a person with you; and if you have animals, sometimes they may not feel like cuddling. Preferably find a soft plushie, one that feels like a pillow. Like a squish mellow for example. If you dont want to have a plushie then of course you can use something else like a pillow.
Squishies
Squishies are good for relieving anxiety. You can pretend that you are taking everything out on the Squishies, or you can use it as comfort. I like to keep these in my car for when I’m struggling to drive with my mental illness and anxiety.
Heated pads and blankets
If you are often cold, like me, then you probably love things that heat up. When I get comfortable I love to use my heated pad. This especially helps with my fibromyalgia symptoms and aches and pains. When I use my heated pad, I feel like it calms me more if im anxious. and it feels really good if I’m depressed . Of course when using a heating pad or bleanket, please be cautious of it causing fire hazard or causing burns. Ideally, do not leave it on too long. I recommend getting a heating pad that automatically turns off or cool down after a while. If you like cold you can try bio freeze for aches and pains. I recommend bio freeze as a formal massage therapist. It can help with muscle pain.
A mediation tents or a sacred space
I have my own mediation tent and I use it as a sacred space or a place that I can retreat to when I don’t feel mentally well. I also use this space as a spiritual space to meditate, pray, or self reflect like doing shadow work. For my tent I have a mediation floor pillow along with a readers pillow, and other pillows, and a cozy blanket. I also have some books, journals, or other therapeutic things. If you have or are interest in psychic abilities then I recommend you have a mediation tent or a space like this. A tent is good for sensory deprivation with light, then you can use an eye mask and some good earplugs. Of course if you want some lights you can add that too.
Protection or comforting charms
If you are more spiritual, I think it is comforting to have something sentimental, or a charm, or maybe a rosary. It’s also comforting to pray with these. It can be a signal to spirit guides that you need help.
Have a spa day
It is refereshing to have a spa day. Whether you give your self a spa day at home, or go to a spa. If your at home you can use face mask, skin care, lotion and moisturizer, self massage or percussion therapy (massage gun),. You can take a warm epson salt bath or a hot shower too. Most people dont have a sauna or a kind of professional at home, so when you go to the spa you can see a massage therapist, or an esthetician, hair stylist, or a nail artist, a reiki practitioner, chiropractors and more.
TENS Unit
TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. This small device uses a low voltage electrical current that helps to relieve pain. TENS is good for conditions such as fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, tendinitis, etc. This is good for my fibromyalgia and it also calms and feels like a massage.

For this therapy, you can seek a psychologist or a counselor about it and they will guide you through it. There are therapist that use eye movement, but there are also therapist that use buzzers which is a device that mimics those eye movements.

Prescribed medication
If you have troubles with mental health then you can seek a psychiatrist. A psychiatrist can prescribe you medication preferable to your struggles. Just one of the meds that I am prescribed is hydroxyzine. I was first given this med in the mental hospital. They give it to patients for anxiety and stress. Taking this med calms you more but it doesn’t give you a high and is not addictive. If you are curious about this you can ask your psychiatrist about this.
